This nationally recognised course describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings. There are legislated requirements in each state in relation to this training. These requirements will be documented in each states approved code of practice for first aid.

Description:

- Assess the incident scene
- Conduct D-R-S-A-B-C-D
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques
- Roll patient into recovery position
- Handover to Medical personnel
- Manage a choking patient

Unit of Competency
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Assessment:
Assessment of this course is through written and practical assessment including the observation of students carrying out a range of scenarios. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
Delivery Method:
Classroom theory via PowerPoint or the issued learner resource including use of audio-visual material and practical activities.
